Star Wars Workbooks

If you have kids who like Star Wars, these workbooks are an amazing way to get them excited about school subjects. My kids went from dreading math practice to doing math workbooks for fun in their free time after we got these. The workbooks come in a number of subject and grade levels including:

Math: Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

Reading: Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd

Writing: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd

Reading  & Writing: 3rd, 4th

Shapes, Colors & Patterns: Preschool

Wacky Phrases and Sentences

These books have been amazing at getting my kids to practice their writing and have fun at the same time. The sentences are really goofy (but not inappropriate) and they end up giggling while they’re writing. Three books are currently available:

Print Uppercase and Lowercase Letters, Words, and Silly Phrases (Kindergarten and 1st Grade)

Print Wacky Sentences (1st & 2nd Grade)

Wacky Sentences: Practice Writing in Cursive (3rd & 4th Grade)

The Zones of Regulation: Curriculum and Workbook

This is an in-depth program for helping kids (and teens) learn to identify and manage their emotions. The book is organized by lessons, which include handouts and activities. You can pick and choose which elements you want to use with your kids, but the basic ideas are simple enough that a 3 year old can understand. It also helps adults have a framework for recognizing how kids are feeling, and finding a way back to the “green zone” (green means happy, calm, ready to learn).

The Drawing Lesson: A Graphic Novel That Teaches You How to Draw

The drawing lesson follows the story of a kid who wants to learn to draw. At the end of each section, there’s an assignment to complete. This is a very engaging way to get your kids to move beyond simple drawing skills.

Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons

Teaching kids to read is a daunting task, but this book takes all the mystery out of it. From a super simple beginning (m makes an mmmmmm sound) to reading full paragraphs, this book is a step-by-step, no prep required, straightforward path to literacy.

The Amazing 50 State Maze Book

These are fairly advanced mazes, in the shape of the 50 states. Fun way to get kids interested in US geography!

Analogies for Critical Thinking

The Analogies for Critical Thinking series introduces analogies in a simple and straightforward way. Kids quickly learn how to make connections between words and apply those connections in other word pairs. Grades 1-6 are available.
